FPSPI engages students in creative problem solving within the curriculum and provides competitive opportunities. Impressionists Club
Sponsor: Mrs. Nancy Hatch, art teacher - nmhatch@volusia.k12.fl.us
DeBary Elementary is offers an after-school Art Club program called, “Impressionist Art Cub.” This club is geared towards fifth grade students only. The program is offered on Mondays after school. It is offered to the first 20 fifth grade students who submit a two-paragraph essay in regard to why they want to be in art club. The Impressionist Art club offers an array of artistic techniques that will teach students the basic rules of painting, clay, drawing, and sculpture. This will give the students a chance to use more materials and give them an opportunity to expand and explore the arts in a variety of mediums.
Safety Patrols
Sponsor: Mrs. Jennifer Ray, fourth grade teacher - jlray@volusia.k12.fl.us
It is an honor and privilege to be on the Safety Patrol Team. Only fifth grade students who are responsible and dedicated are selected to be members of the team. Each year the upcoming fifth grade students must write a paragraph on why they would want to be a patroller, receive a recommendation from a teacher, and ask for their parents consent to join the team. Once this process is completed a team will be selected.
Safety Patrol is taken seriously throughout the school year. The team members maintain safety at the school and are good role models for younger students.

We had such a fantastic interest in our first DeBary Elementary Garden Club that we split our club into 2 semesters. 2nd grade meets this semester and 3rd grade meets 2nd semester. We are working on cleaning up our campus, weeding, planting new plants and vegetables, making treats for the birds and adding some special touches to our new garden area over by the art room. We welcome donations of red mulch and/ plants as we are preparing to re-mulch the front beds out by the flagpole area. We're excited to have 100+ students in our club this year !!
Robotic Club

It is so exciting to start the very first Robot Club at DeBary Elementary School! This is a club for fourth graders who love fighting robots. The club participated in a county wide competition and started the first ever DeBary Elementary Brawl. Students make robots, learn to control them, fight them against other robots, and modify them to fight better next time. These students show great teamwork and ingenuity in their robot fighting skills.
